Story notes: What is a Snark? The Hunting Of The Snark was originally published on April Fools Day by Lewis Carroll in 1876 and no-one is completely sure what one even looks like. You can hunt a Snark however, “with thimbles, you may hunt it with forks and hope; you may threaten its life with a railway-share; or charm it with smiles and soap”.After publishing the poem of the Snark, Carroll continued to be evasive on its meaning, refusing to answer questions about it.
